Title:
Comparison Of Pre and Post Pattern VEP In Patching vs Dichoptic therapy For Anisometropic Amblyopia
Synopsis:
Aim and Objective: To compare pre- and post-treatment Pattern Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) changes in children with anisometropic amblyopia undergoing dichoptic therapy versus patching ,to assess improvements in visual acuity, stereopsis, and contrast sensitivity. Methods: A prospective observational study, 36 children aged 7–16 years were recruited from November 2022 to December 2023 and randomised to either Bynocs or patching. Baseline and 1-month follow-up assessments included visual acuity, stereopsis, contrast sensitivity, and Pattern VEP. Results: Both groups showed significant improvement in P100 latency and amplitude. The Bynocs group demonstrated greater latency normalization 72.22% and amplitude improvement 72.22% while the patching group showed 55.56% latency and 77.78% amplitude improvement. Dichoptic therapy showed improvement in stereopsis and contrast sensitivity. Conclusion: Dichoptic therapy is more effective in enhancing cortical visual processing and binocular function. Pattern VEP serves as a valuable prognostic tool for monitoring treatment response in amblyopia.
