A Retrospective Study to describe multimodal imaging features of ocular parasitosis in south India

Purpose: To study clinical features and multimodal imaging features of ocular parasitosis in a tertiary care ophthalmic centre in south India.
Methods:  Retrospective study
Results: Among 257 cases of ocular parasitosis, 187 cases were of ocular toxoplasma with age range of 4-73 years (mean age of 39.5 years), 31 cases of Diffuse Unilateral Subacute Neuroretinitis (DUSN) having age range of 11-71 years(mean age of 29.35 years), 37 cases of toxocara in age group of 4-65 years (mean age of 26.1 years)and two cases of Gnathostomiasis. No gender predilection was noted in the toxocara and DUSN group, whereas in the toxoplasmosis group male gender was predominant. Appropriate blood work and multimodal imaging was done in each case and correlations were made to plan management options.
Conclusions: Our study demonstrates various clinical features of ocular parasitosis and the multimodal imaging features, which can aid in prompt and definitive diagnosis and management.
